BRANCH TEAM GOING TO HUNGARY

The Branch display team is going to Hungary this August to take part in the Gyongy International Folklore Festival, in the town of Gyongyos, which lies on the edge of the Matra Mountains to the North-East of Budapest.  The festival runs from the 8th - 13th August and there will be teams from another seven countries taking part. Hopefully it won't be quite as hot as it was four years ago when the branch last travelled to Hungary - on that occasion Budapest recorded it's highest temperature (42C) for over 50 years!

MEDAL TESTS

Arrangements have been made for some of the young people in the area to take further Medal Tests. This not only keeps their interest in dancing but ensures that they reach an acceptable standard of dance. It is anticipated that the tests will be held at Heddon-on-the-Wall on Saturday 5th July.

We wish all the girls who take the tests the best of luck and above all hope they keep dancing.

A BIG THANK YOU

As we approach another AGM to mark the end of our year of dancing I think we should remember all the hard work of the people who run our branch. At a time when many organisations are struggling to get people to keep things going we are lucky to have so many people willing to give up their precious free time to look after our dancing affairs. We have the Office Bearers and Committee members who run branch dances, look after the finances, check Health and Safety concerns and legal requirements, keep our records straight and organise other events for us to enjoy. Many of our teachers are volunteers too, giving up their time to plan classes and spread the dancing message. Others are involved with the publications our branch produces, often in advance of Headquarters doing these things. So a big thank you to all the hard workers from one who knows what it takes to do these jobs.

Maureen Barlow.
